Professor Emeritus Dr. Michael Hahn, LL.M., served as director of the Institute for European and International Economic Law and as director of the World Trade Institute from 2015 to 2026. Michael Hahn previously held the Chair of European Law and served as director of the LL.M. program in International Business Law at the University of Lausanne. From 2005 to 2008, he was a full professor at the University of Waikato School of Law in Hamilton, New Zealand. He remains an associate professor (honorary professor) at Waikato, as well as an adjunct professor at Murdoch University Law School in Perth, Australia, and a permanent visiting lecturer at the European Institute in Saarbrücken. In addition, Professor Hahn has served as a visiting professor at the universities of Bonn, Fukuoka, Hanoi, Ghent, Macerata, Paris V, PUCP Lima, and Zurich, as well as at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Chicago-Kent College of Law, the University of New South Wales in Sydney, and the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
Professor Hahn regularly serves as an expert witness and legal counsel in cases involving international trade law and European law. He is also co-editor of the Journal of World Trade, the Zeitschrift für Europarechtliche Studien (ZEuS), and the Latin American Journal of Trade Policy.
